Dazey is our first home-bred Champion. She is a tightly linebred Kahlua daughter sired by our dog Blade. Dazey was a wonderful combination of her parents, she had Kahlua's looks, coloring, coat texture and gentle expression but with Blade's shorter back, solid topline, better tailset and his outgoing personality. Dazey was full of zest and loved to show. If there was a grooming table set up somewhere, Dazey was on it! It could be 90 degrees in July and this silly girl was wagging her tail in the group ring! At the tender age of 7 months, she won Best of Breed over a male special owner-handled at her very first show, with little prior ring training and no match shows or conformation classes. She finished her championship very easily by the age of 23 months in very limited showing. Dazey was only spot-specialed a handful of times and won a Group 2 breeder-owner handled and also a Best of Breed over the #1 ranked male Akita out showing at that time (pictured with this win above). She was certainly one of the most outgoing Akitas I have ever had the joy of owning. Dazey loved everybody and was good with other dogs. She was a dominant "mother figure" but would play with any dog that accepted her as boss. Everyone always told me how two females couldn't get along, but Dazey and her mom Kahlua ran together every single day, even if one of them was in season or had puppies. My proudest moments with Dazey invovled her work with kindergarteners. She taught dog bite prevention to 4 kindergarten classes at my daughter's school. Dazey was so wonderful with everyone, even disabled children, that she was an amazing ambassador for the breed. Sadly, we lost Dazey well before her time, at only 7 years of age, possibly a victim of poisoning. Dazey so far has been our most consistant producer of quality kids, grandkids and beyond for Valiant Akitas. Some of the best dogs we have bred go back to Dazey. She produced great type, temperament and size (she herself was almost 26").
