Jade unfortunately was diagnosed with mild luxuating patella (slipping kneecap). Although no surgery was recommended and Jade does fine with the condition, we made the decision to not breed her because it can be hereditary. This condition is not very apparent to the eye; Jade has beautiful movement. This is a reason breeders need to be screening their breeding dogs NOT just for hips and eyes but patella and elbows too! Jade was spayed and is now living with the Greagor family in Colorado. She is perhaps the most beautiful female Akita I have ever bred and a BIG girl, Jade was 26" and 100 lb at only 12 months old.
